The following courses are taken by Open Water Scuba Instructors (OWSI) or higher qualification:

Scuba Diver

Not sure what the full course is going to be like? You only want to dive on holiday and let someone guide you around. You don't want the hassle of planning your own dive. Then this course is for you. The course involves theory, three confined water dives (pool) and two open water dives. However, you MUST dive with a PADI professional and only to a maximum of 12 metres. The PADI Scuba Diver rating allows you to go onto the full PADI Open Water course if you get bitten by the bug! Minimum ages:Scuba Diver = 15; Junior Scuba Diver 10

Open Water (OW)

Have the time of your life underwater. Learn how to plan a dive for yourself. Get a licence to dive world-wide. This diving certification allows you to buy or hire scuba gear, dive independently (as long as you're with a buddy) and get air fills. PADI Open Water divers are licenced to go to 18 metres. The course involves theory, five confined water dives (pool) and four open water dives. Minimum ages: OW = 15 yrs; Junior OW = 10 yrs

NEW FROM PADI = Open Water Diver - Controlled Environment. This allows you to dive unsupervised in aquaria or similar controlled areas but NOT in the sea. Following the same course as OW but differs in that the four open water dives are done in a controlled environment. To upgrade to Scuba Diver requires two open water dives or upgrade to OW requires four open water dives.

To qualify for this certificate you are required to do another two compulsory dives - Deep and Underwater Navigation. This qualifies you to 30 metres. DO NOT DIVE DEEPER THAN YOUR CERTIFICATION!!! (firstly it's dangerous and secondly your insurance will be null and void) Minimum age: 12 yrs (junior); 15 yrs. OW required.

Afterall, the best rescue is not having to do one in the first place! This course teaches you the skills that you will require. It is hard work but well worth the rewards and should you ever need the skills they become second nature. You even get a sixth sense, stopping trouble before it occurs. Learn the ten skills and go on to do the four rescue scenarios, where we get to make things up and put the pressure on! Minimum ages 12 (junior); 15 yrs with at least 40 dives. AOW required.
